GRID ARCHITECTS - VERTUS 50-60 CHARTER STREET

Photographed to document the shared amenity spaces at 50–60 Charter Street, a build-to-rent development designed by Grid Architects for Vertus in Canary Wharf.

The project brings together a series of communal environments including resident lounges, fitness and studio spaces, dining rooms and coworking areas, all conceived as extensions of the domestic environment. The design prioritises flexibility and atmosphere, allowing spaces to support different modes of use throughout the day while maintaining a consistent material and architectural language.

The amenities were designed to accommodate both social and private use, with careful transitions between open gathering areas and more intimate zones. Attention was given to spatial flow, light and materiality to ensure the spaces feel welcoming and adaptable rather than prescriptive. The photography focuses on how these shared spaces are experienced in practice, balancing wider spatial context with quieter moments that reveal scale, texture and detail. Emphasis was placed on documenting how residents move through and occupy the spaces, and how the different amenity areas relate to one another within the wider development.

The final images were produced for use by Vertus and Grid Architects across brand communications, marketing and internal documentation, forming part of the visual record of the Charter Street development. This project sits within an ongoing body of work photographing design-led build-to-rent and commercial residential environments.
